A New Era for Corporate Digital Responsibility with CDR-STEPS

The CDR-STEPS research project is set to usher in a new era of Corporate Digital Responsibility (CDR) for startups. The project is led by two distinguished experts who bring the perfect blend of research competence and practical experience: Prof. Dr. Laura Bechthold and Maria Mair.

The Team

Prof. Dr. Laura Bechthold serves as a Professor of Technology Assessment and Cultural Management at the Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt. With a background in technology assessment and responsible innovation, she is a leading authority in the field of digital responsibility and futures research. Her career spans strategic projects at Zeppelin University and leadership roles in innovative initiatives at the Munich Leadership Institute. Her commitment lies in establishing ethical and sustainable entrepreneurship as a core element of the business world of tomorrow. In CDR-STEPS, she leverages her extensive experience in strategic consulting and academia to develop standards for a responsible digital business environment.

Maria Mair, a research associate and prospective PhD candidate within the CDR-STEPS project, complements the team with her practice-oriented perspective. Bringing a fresh, academically informed outlook, she dedicates herself to addressing the specific needs and challenges faced by startups. Her dissertation aims to empower young companies to embrace digital responsibility and to encourage them to make ethical decisions that extend beyond economic benefits, laying the foundation for long-term success.

The team is supported by our student assistant, Sabrina Bayer, who is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Global Foresight and Technology Management at the Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt. Sabrina actively contributes at the intersection of foresight and technology, perfectly aligning with the project’s focus areas.

The Research Institute

The project is anchored at the Bavarian Foresight Institute of the Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt. The Bavarian Foresight Institute is dedicated to technology-driven futures research, examining the economic and societal interdependencies associated with emerging technologies. It aims to create synergies with the technology-oriented research institutes at THI, particularly in the areas of Artificial Intelligence, sustainability, and mobility.

The research is application-oriented, with findings contributing to consulting projects, being published in academic journals, and shared through appropriate forums coordinated by the Bavarian Foresight Institute. The institute also plays a pivotal role in advancing scientific talent by supervising doctoral students, primarily funded through externally acquired research projects.
